I have willpower (sometimes).

Been to school again and got my adult Foundation award to go with my puppy one.

I did brilliantly today, some of the time and it was nice to have Dad come to watch.   I did a really good down-stay while Mum went for a walk.  Then Curly and I both did a down-stay only about a metre apart while his Dad and my Mum walked round us.  Mum says my only real downfall is self control and, to be honest, she's right.  I did find it hard to walk round with mum ignoring everything.    The problem is life is just so full of exciting things, like:

* Food
* People who might fuss me
* Sensational smells!
* Doggie friends
* Doggie toys

My self control is coming though, for example I was a star at "Leave it".  Marie had some freshly cooked liver and she put a piece on everyone's mat.  OMG, the smell... I nearly grabbed  it then realised I had to do as Mum said and so I sat and left it.   When we got home Mum got me to pose for a photo to show my skill in waiting for a treat...

In the Woods.

"Oscar!  No!   Oscar, come!"

Hmm, did I hear something?   Nah, she can wait.   OMG, the most amazing aroma is calling me.... Heaven.....

"PEEEP PEEP PEEEP. OSCAR!!!"

"Yeah yeah, wait".     Ok, here we go,  get the angle right, aim and roll, head down;  yeah man, that's it, muzzle back and forth, turn over, do the other side.   Marvellous.  Now to rearrange and adorn my shoulders, back and....

"OSCAR, LEEEEEEEAVE IT!"

Oh, that's what mum says when something could be poisonous, but.......

"LEEEEAVE IT.   GET YOURSELF BACK... HERE... NOW!!!"

Oh. She looks kinda mad.   Best go, but I'll be back, my precious sweet smelling pile.

Apparently she doesn't like the "stench".   I think that's what she called it.  Guess that means I get a wash when we get back home.

Would you like to see the woods and me with my lovely perfume on my cheeks?  Looks rather distinguished, wouldn't you agree?

Had a friend over for drinkies.

Lovely sunny day, so I took Dad for a long walk round the fields.   Mum came home and they decided it was a good day to do some caravan sorting out.  Apparently it goes places with car and we get to sleep in it and have lots of adventures.  'Bring it on', I say!

Now Mum does some strange things, as you know, and today was no different; she put a corkscrewy thing in the grass with a red line attached to it and then clipped it to my collar, and she told me to stay and look after it.  WHY?  Must confess I moaned a bit, hoping she'd change her mind, but it didn't work. When I was quiet she gave me a treat.  I don't get it, I simply don't.

Anyway, things then looked up... the chap who lives next door decided to do some gardening and his doggie Tilly came out to keep an eye on him.   She and I decided our humans would be fine unsupervised and so we could have some dog time.  I suggested it to Mum and Tilly told her Dad.  They agreed and Mum said she'd look after her red line and corkscrew... but she just went off into the caravan and left it, didn't clip it onto herself... very strange.

Tilly and I had a great game of chase, then I invited her into the garden for a drink :)

FOOD!

You know mum tells me she goes out sometimes to get money for my food?  She hit the jackpot today... look what she came home with .. and clumsy Dad spilled some.  Just as well I was there to clean up and save either of them from bending down eh?

Actually, between you & me, I think he dropped some on purpose to give me a treat 'cos he's nice like that!

Windy walk and chickens

Life is still rather strange without Charlie.  Mum and Dad are just not themselves and mum's eyes still leak and she needs me and Dad to hug her.  I thought they both needed to get out and have some fresh air, so I sat this morning doing my best telepathy ... and it worked.   We went to the place the Rivers Trent and Ouse come together to form the Humber, a tiny hamlet called Faxfleet.  We walked in a howling wind along the bank and then back along the road.  Just as we reached the car I saw something quite exciting... Fluffy, feathery things waddling around and teasing me. I thought they fancied playing so set off at a lick.

PEEEEEEEEEEP... PEEP PEEP PEEP .... oh no that means Dad wants me...  He looks fine, so

"Not now Dad, I'm busy"

"Oscar, come here NOW"..... Hmm seems Mum wants me too, so I look round and she looks a bit cross...

"Mum, it's fine, they WANT me to play.... OMG OMG OMG.... WHATS THAT?..... It's big, it's using foul language and it's coming to get me, I don't like it ....I'm scared... help me Mum!"

Apparently the things were called chickens, they didn't want to play and so they sent their minder called Cockerel to see me off!
