Another trip out

I do like it when the humans say "car".   I adore being in it - makes me warm and sleepy and takes me to lots of adventures.  Have to say they were a bit slow in getting going this morning.  They said it because it was "Satt--er--day" - think that was it.  Mum had breakfast with me about 7am, but told me and Charlie "no messing about - be quiet boys - Dad's asleep!".    It was so hard to be patient, but we were both good.   Mum's cunning really - she kept hiding bits of my breakfast in my Kong toy and I had a laugh getting them out to eat. Much more fun than just in a bowl. Apparently eating like there is no tomorrow isn't good for me (so she says).

Eventually there were signs we were going somewhere when the harness thing came out.  I've learned to put it on quietly as Mum seems not to like a game of chase and tug-of-war with it.  Peculiar as I think it is boring to just put it on, but hey-ho, got to keep the old girl happy.

Finally the door opened and it was car time - yippee!  Had a good walk all round where the humans used to live. Didn't see another soul, human or animal; so there was no need for me to look after Mum and Dad on a lead.  I just kept close to make sure they were fine.  They remembered snacks for me, so it was well worth keeping a very close eye on them to make sure they didn't dare eat any themselves.  They both seemed very happy and full of the joys of spring. It was a glorious day - birds flying, little white and yellow flowers blooming, sun shining and both my humans with me.

Dad called me for a snack

Then I walked close to him for a while.

The walk was over all too soon for my liking.  I am sure they've got it all wrong, but Mum says she's done research and found out that labradors are only supposed to have 5 mins of exercise for every month of their age until their bones are fully hard so 40 mins is enough for me but if we take it steady we can do a bit more.   Well my bones feel pretty hard already to me.

I was pleased we didn't go straight home. Instead we went to investigate a new Country Store near home.  OMG!  It was FULL of foooooooood.   The spoilsports put a lead on my harness as they had an idea I might decide to bite holes in the food bags.... would I do such a thing?  Anyway, they bought some cat toilet stuff (that Charlie, is a lazy bag of feline bones - he has an INDOOR toilet!) but Dad also bought me a pheasant :)

Oh, that shop - it is Deepdale Country stores

Ssh - don't tell Dad I told you.....

... but actually he's a bit of a wuss.  I took him out today while Mum was earning some dog food for me and after a while he confided in me that he was cold. He said he only had one jacket on... what about me? I've only got  my fur and I was fine.

Mum came back at lunchtime with a chewy bone thing; yummy! She played a good game at supper time.  She was hunting for my Kong which was in my den, so I fetched it for her.  She filled it with my dry food and I had so much fun throwing it, rolling it and shoving it to get the bits out.  A bit later she suggested I take the bone thing into the den. She shut the door that I didn't know it had, but actually it was rather good as it felt even more private. Within 30s I wa sfast asleep.

My den!!

Mum and Dad went out to do something called a peal this morning so I invited Auntie Pat round to play and we went for a walk.   While she was here this humungous box turned up.  I wanted to know what it was... didn't smell edible though.  Mum and Dad opened it and it was a hoot... it's a special den just for little old me!   I couldn't wait to get in it.  They said it's my tent for when we go on holidays so I can feel at home wherever we go, even on a boat (what's a boat?).  Anyway poor old codgers that they are, Mum and Dad were soon snoring by the fire after their morning out and so I relaxed in my boudoir.  It's great... cosy and private :)

Woweeeee......................Dashing about on the Humber Bank this morning in the rain with Dad. He thought it was a good idea so who was I to disagree. Met this Springer Spaniel who seemed to think that I was available for his entertainment, at least he did until Dad pointed out that this was not acceptable entertainment in public between boys. This is not what going out dogging means! Saw a fascinating thing that Dad said was a 'train'. A man sitting in the front waved at me, but I couldn't see his dog!

Sun, sea, sand.... and a shower

We went to the seaside.  I like the seaside.  There are lots of things to pounce on, lots of doggie friends to meet and people everywhere.  It feels funny too when the wet bits splash as you dash about.  I found this great shell thing to jump on, then Dad called me.  He liked me to run up to him and try to splash him when he said come!
Then Mum said "come" so galloped over and tried to splash her too - they both had loads of fun.
Things got even more fun after we chased all over the mud because Mum and Dad said they felt ok if I let them walk without a lead for a while.  I met new friends galore.  One was a rather gorgeous little spaniel - I was just thinking of getting to know her a lot better when Dad said he wanted to walk on and wanted me to help, so please could I have the lead back on.  I wasn't keen but eventually agreed. Then later I met a spotty dog - she was a teenager like me and we jumped about together.  She needs to watch herself though as she had me flat on my back twice. Clearly doesn't know her own strength.
All too soon we were back at the car and Zzzzzzzz suddenly we were home!  I sat down and decided to lick my fur as it was full of itchy scratchy yellow stuff from the seaside.  Mum had other ideas and let me borrow her shower, so now I am nice and clean.  I have to say I didn't really enjoy it, but she knelt down and let me put my head on her shoulder so I felt safe.
What happened the rest of the afternoon?  No idea, but I had lots of lovely dreams!
